Each March marks the arrival of a few new members of the Mount Vernon family — 30 to 50 lambs to be exact. Lambing season continues throughout the spring and visitors can see these curious and sometimes mischievous young creatures frolicking with their mothers in our paddock. Mount Vernon recently invited K-12 schools nationwide to request framed portraits of George Washington to display in a respectful, prominent place.
The response was overwhelming: thousands of schools submitted letters! Along with the portrait, schools received curriculum materials to help explore our first president’s contributions.
